Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Grant Writer Volunteer will report to the Executive Director/Founder,

Development Director, and when necessary, the Board of Directors. The expected time commitment is 5

hours per week. The Grant Writer Volunteer will help our organization by identifying, researching, and

writing persuasive grant proposals in collaboration with the Development Director to secure funding to

support our operations, mission, and programs. This volunteer will play a critical role in the

organization's fundraising efforts by helping to secure essential funding from foundations, government

entities, and corporate sources.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from various funding sources that are relevant to our mission and programs and add to the grant prospect list
  • Assist in drafting clear, structured, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents (including narratives, objectives, and evaluation criteria) tailored to each funder's guidelines
  • Work closely with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors to gather necessary data, statistics, project outcomes, and budget information required for applications
  • Assist in maintaining a detailed grants calendar to track all deadlines for proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports
  • Assist in collecting and submitting all required reports to funders on the progress and impact of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all agreements
  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with current and prospective funders through professional correspondence and timely updates
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and organized records of all grant activities, submissions, and outcomes in Network for Good or another database as required
  • Maintain excellent financial records for our treasurer/tax preparer
