Position Summary:
The Financial Controller will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. This position will report to the Finance Director and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the completion of the month-end closing process including the preparation of some journal entries, loading of results into the Dover General Ledger System, as well as assisting with reporting templates required by Blackmer, PSG, and Dover teams.
  • Performs management testing of all functions per the Dover Core Internal Controls to ensure all necessary controls are operating as documented in the Company's policies and procedures and maintain/change the policies and procedures as needed.
  • Leads constant improvement of ERP system to ensure reporting is aligned with business needs and that proper internal controls are in place and automated where possible.
  • Manage and develop local accounting staff, as well as indirectly manage overseas shared service centers (GL, AP, AR teams).
  • Lead all audit activities (External SOX/financial, Internal SOX/financial, sales tax, etc.) as needed.
  • Lead standard costing and development of material/labor overheads.
  • Manages relationships with financial shared service centers and participates in continuously improving underlying processes.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and recommend changes.
  • Oversee credit and collection activity, with a focus on improving % current and DSO.
  • Leads the effort to deploy LEAN concepts in financial processes and deploys approaches and resources to continuously improve business processes and business internal controls.
  • Oversee Segregation of Duties and complete reviews as necessary and in-line with Dover expectations.
  • Ad Hoc analysis of operating performance and results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, CPA and/or MBA desirable.
  • 7+ years of related experience within the accounting field.
  • Strong technical skills in all Finance areas such as administration, accounting, and controlling.
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office.
  • Oracle experience is preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience with the ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a high performing financial team.
  • Problem solving-the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Judgment-the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  • Planning/organizing-the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Work experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.
