Job description

Great Lakes Concrete is a premier manufacturer of precast concrete structures and a leading distributor for the sanitary, sewer, and water movement markets. With over 30 years in business and a strong foothold in municipal infrastructure, we are looking for a sharp, hands-on Controller to lead our financial operations.

Full-time, in-office position located at 128 East 14th Street, Chicago Heights, IL 60411.

This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to Ownership. If you thrive in an environment where you can see the direct impact of your work on the production floor and the bottom line, this is the place for many years to come.

You will be responsible for:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting, including A/R, A/P, and payroll/HR functions, as well as staff.

  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing with a focus on accruals, inventory reconciliations, and manufacturing-specific adjustments.

  • Implement and maintain robust controls to ensure accuracy and reduce risk.

  • Monitor cash flow and working capital and makes recommendations for optimization

  • Monitor working capital and provide Ownership with actionable recommendations for optimization.

  • Manage relationships with external partners in banking, insurance, tax, and IT support.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • 5+ years of experience in an Accounting Management role, specifically within Manufacturing or Distribution.

  • A deep understanding of Cost Accounting and Inventory Management.

  • BS in Accounting (4-year degree). CPA or CMA is a plus.

  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly master new industry-specific software.

  • Spanish language proficiency is highly helpful in our production environment.
