The selected candidate will be a direct employee with Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C). H2C delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C seeks a Controller in the Finance Department.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the Finance Organization; Responsible for providing policy guidelines, goals, direction, and coordination to the staff. 
  • Responsible for recruiting, training and career development of finance personnel. 
  • Oversee Finance System Integration group on Hanford system upgrade. 
  • Responsible for timely and accurate financial data, and preparation of financial reports which keep management abreast of the financial status of H2C.  Including but not limited to: Strategic financial planning support to the CFO and Corporate parents. 
  •   Oversight of Treasury and Cash Management functions 
  • Oversight of Invoicing and Collections, including DOE billing requirements 
  • Oversight of indirect rate development, monitoring and variance analysis 
  • Make independent studies, analyses, and interpretation of very complex financial, tax, or accounting data. 
  • Make substantial contributions across a wide range of functions through guiding, directing, or coordination the work of others. 
  • Oversee the administration of activities in accordance with policies and procedures while using discretion and independent judgment. 
  • Ensure segregation of duties; oversee the performance of self-assessments and internal and external audit agencies. 
  • Comply with H2C policies and procedures.
  • Ensure ISMS Principles are incorporated into organization's activities.
  • Oversight of financial system architecture, code-of-accounts structure, and system upgrades 
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), GAAP, Disclosure Statement, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) compliance and oversight.  In addition to Ownership of the contractual Business System compliance. 
  • Oversight of annual Incurred Cost Submission 
  • Oversee compliance with DOE funding elements and contract modifications.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 22:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 15 years’ directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • Leadership in finance/accounting.

Grade 23:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 17-20 years’ directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 
  • Leadership in finance/accounting. 
  • Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA/MBA preferred 
  • Knowledge of DOE reporting requirements and experience with large financial systems (e.g. Oracle Peoplesoft). 
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, FAR, accounting procedures and tasks. 
  • Skills with Excel. 
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Government allowability on vendor invoices and other costs.

 Compensation & Benefits:

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.

Hiring Range Minimum: $162,863
Hiring Range Maximum: $246,613
