Position Summary
Ultra Maritime is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the accounting function at our Fort Wayne, IN location. Reporting directly into the VP of Finance, the controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with IFRS, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), while supporting operational excellence and financial transparency.
The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, deep knowledge of government contract accounting, and hands-on experience in manufacturing cost structures, inventory control, and project-based accounting.
We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who can manage and work within the new initiatives, systems, and procedures. This individual will work closely with the local operating business unit as well as the broader international team at the Ultra Maritime Group.
Job Description
Responsibilities Include:
  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, AP/AR, fixed assets, and revenue recognition
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, FAR, CAS, and other applicable government regulations
  • Lead preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
  • Manage and coordinate annual audits, DCAA audits, and other regulatory reviews
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Support standard cost development, variance analysis, and bill of materials (BOM) accuracy
  • Monitor work-in-process (WIP), inventory valuation, and overhead allocations
  • Analyze production costs and provide actionable insights to operations and business leadership
  • Support the VP of Finance in the preparation of the 5 Year Strategic Plan and the annual budget
  • Oversee indirect rate calculations and submissions (Forward pricing rates, incurred cost submissions)
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Drive ERP optimization and financial system improvements

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 10+ years of related accounting experience with 5+ years supervisory/manager experience.
  • 5+ years manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory controls, and production accounting
  • Experience managing audits
  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
  • Highest ethical standards and integrity

Desired Skills:
  • Should possess strong communication and executive presence
  • Strong MS Office skills with expert-level knowledge in financial reporting systems (Epicor and/or Onestream a plus)
  • Strategic financial acumen
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for monitoring accounting records and resolving accounting problems.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
