These managers often collaborate with executives and other departments to align financial plans with overall business objectives, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for cost savings or investment. Their role is crucial in ensuring the organization’s financial health and strategic direction.

How does a finance strategy manager typically collaborate with other departments to drive business growth?

A Finance Strategy Manager frequently works cross-functionally with teams such as operations, marketing, and product development to align financial planning with broader business objectives. Job description

About the role

We are seeking a Strategic Finance leader to manage the "machines" finance function covering the chips and accelerators that run our models.

In this role, you will be a key partner to our hardware infrastructure teams, providing financial expertise and guidance to drive hardware decisions. You will own the near and long-term forecasts for hardware, support deal teams, and our engineering teams on hardware ROI decisions.

Key responsibliities
  • Own the economics of chip and accelerator capacity: cost per chip-hour and TCO across chip generations
  • Evaluate capacity offers and hardware commitments with the Compute deal team: pricing across chip types, counterparties, and structures
  • Partner with Capacity Planning and Hardware Engineering on the financial analysis influencing machine strategy
  • Own the hardware forecast: delivery volumes by chip over time, expenses, and cash flows
  • Build and manage the Machines finance team; set the operating cadence with central FP&A and Accounting
  • Serve as the accountable owner for machines FP&A into forecast and close cycles
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Treasury, and Infra FP&A on accounting treatment and forecast inputs
Minimum qualifications
  • Owned hardware, semiconductor, or hyperscaler capacity economics
  • Experience managing or mentoring finance talent
  • Strong analytical skills and the judgment to turn an ambiguous structure into a clear financial recommendation
  • Comfort partnering closely with engineering and commercial teams under deal-timeline pressure
  • Passion for Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems
Preferred qualifications
  • 8+ years in strategic finance, FP&A, or capacity/infrastructure finance
  • Capacity planning or infrastructure finance experience at a hyperscaler or major chip maker
  • Experience standing up a new finance function
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent
