The Graduate Medical Education Program Administrator role is ideal for someone who thrives in a detail-driven, highly organized environment. This position plays a central role in keeping a large, complex residency program running smoothly through meticulous coordination, proactive planning, and consistent follow-through.
Complex Rotation Coordination & Scheduling
Our residency and fellowship programs offers a dynamic training environment with extensive inpatient, outpatient, and subspecialty rotations. The administrator is a key operational lead in managing this complexity.
Coordination of resident rotations across multiple clinical sites and services
Maintenance of accurate schedules, assignments, and records throughout the academic year
Regular collaboration with faculty, chiefs, and institutional partners to ensure seamless coverage and educational continuity

Summary

Responsible for the direct management of the administrative duties for Sanford's residency/fellowship program and additional Sanford programs.

Job Description

Ensures compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Common and Specialty Program requirements. Plans and manages resident physician/fellow rotation and call schedules. Coordinates with other residency/fellowship program as applicable. Prepares accreditation documents including, but not limited to Program Information Forms (PIF), for RRC Accreditation Review and Internal Reviews. Participates as the onsite program administrator for accreditation site visits conducted by ACGME. Manages and oversees recruitment activities. Coordinates resident/fellowship recruitment and onboarding. Oversees resident/fellowship evaluations. Maintains and updates Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) and Graduate Medical Education (GME) electronic databases. Coordinates and administers human resource functions and participates in budget reviews and financial processes for the residency program. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills in applying a detailed knowledge of responsibilities, functions, and underlying management structure of the department and the larger institution in organizing and independently prioritizing work. Establishes procedures and systems as well as ensuring orderly and timely workflow. Completes additional tasks as necessary. Acts as a liaison between Sanford Health and applicable medical schools.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a healthcare, education, business, or related field is required. In lieu of education, leadership may accept four years of applicable experience.
Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Possesses computer experience that includes complex database management. Familiarity with Human Resources issues and policies.
