Starting pay: $18.00 to $20.50 per hour

Active CNA, CMA, or CMOA certification is required for this position.

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant - Records in Bloomington, Illinois.

This role is a great fit for a CNA, CMA, or CMOA who enjoys the medical side of healthcare but also thrives on organization, documentation, and keeping things running behind the scenes.

You'll support our medical team by helping ensure patient records are accurate, complete, and up to date. From processing medical records and test results to reviewing documentation and supporting front office operations, your attention to detail will directly support high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Review electronic clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and required information.
  • Prepare, scan, and attach paper documents to the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Process and distribute incoming faxes and medical documentation.
  • Maintain filing systems, reports, and documentation deadlines using strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Process requests for health records accurately and timely.
  • Update patient medical orders and medical test results in the EMR.
  • Review active patient charts for compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Obtain required patient signatures and documentation.
  • Support front office staff and daily clinic operations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient and organizational information.
  • Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Certification & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant training program required.
  • Active certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Medical Office Assistant (CMOA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of common medical terminology, medical office procedures, and standard office equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, referral sources, staff, vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
