WHY THIS ROLE

This is the leadership seat for 1st Phorm's national field marketing function. You'll own the Street Team, the field marketing budget, and the strategy behind how we show up in grassroots, retail, and event spaces across the country at a moment when the brand is expanding aggressively across Better For You (BFY) and Phorm Energy. This role has a clear growth trajectory within the Events & Activations team and significant autonomy to build, test, and scale new field marketing approaches.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Field Marketing Manager is responsible for leading and scaling 1st Phorm's field marketing operations across grassroots, retail, and event activations nationwide. This role ensures our field team operates at a high level of execution, professionalism, and measurable performance while driving brand growth, retail velocity, and consumer acquisition in-market. 
The Field Marketing Manager will oversee street team leadership, budget management, scheduling, grassroots strategy, guerrilla marketing innovation, and field-level ROI tracking ensuring every activation supports broader company growth objectives. 

This role is both strategic and hands-on.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Field Team Leadership & Performance Management
    1. Directly manage the 1st Phorm Street Team
    2. Lead weekly field marketing team meetings
    3. Establish clear performance expectations and KPIs
    4. Conduct ongoing coaching, training, and accountability check-ins
    5. Ensure high-level execution standards across all activations
    6. Maintain strong team morale, communication, and discipline across a distributed, multi-market team
    7. Develop future field leaders and succession planning
  2. Event & Activation Execution Oversight
    1. Oversee planning and execution of:
      1. Grassroots activations
      2. Retail samplings
      3. Regional events
      4. Trade shows
      5. Guerrilla marketing initiatives
    2. Ensure all activations are:
      1. On-brand
      2. On-budget
      3. Logistically sound
      4. Measurable
    3. Review and approve event briefs, run-of-shows, and staffing plans
    4. Step into key events as on-site lead when required
  3. Budget Ownership & Financial Discipline
    1. Own and manage the national field marketing budget
    2. Track spend vs. forecast monthly
    3. Approve field expenses and travel
    4. Identify cost efficiencies without sacrificing impact
    5. Provide budget reporting to Director of Events
    6. Ensure strong ROI alignment across all field initiatives
  4. Scheduling & Logistics Management
    1. Ensure adequate staffing for all field events
    2. Prevent schedule conflicts and overextension
    3. Maintain activation coverage across priority markets
  5. Market Opportunity Development
    1. Identify and bring new event opportunities to the table
    2. Source grassroots and regional events aligned with:
      1. Fitness
      2. College
      3. Motorsports
      4. First Responder communities
    3. Evaluate opportunities based on:
      1. Sampling Reach
      2. Cost

  6. Guerrilla Marketing & Growth Innovation
    1. Develop and execute creative, high-impact, low-cost guerrilla marketing tactics
    2. Identify unconventional ways to:
      1. Drive product trial
      2. Capture emails/SMS
      3. Create organic content
      4. Generate local buzz
    3. Pilot new activation concepts and measure results
    4. Continuously test and iterate new in-market growth strategies
  7. Retail & Velocity Support
    1. Align field efforts with retail growth priorities
    2. Ensure field activations are strategically placed near retail partners
    3. Support velocity-building initiatives (store competitions, samplings, etc.)
    4. Track and report on retail lift tied to activations
  8. Reporting & KPI Tracking
    1. Track and report on:
      1. Samples distributed
      2. Emails/SMS captured 
      3. Retail lift (where applicable)
      4. Cost per activation
      5. Cost per lead
      6. Impressions & engagement
    2. Deliver concise weekly updates
    3. Participate in bi-monthly performance reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in field marketing, event marketing, or brand activations, including at least 2+ years managing a distributed or multi-market field team
  • Experience in field marketing or brand activation within CPG, supplements, beverage, or fitness industries strongly preferred with competitor brand experience being a plus
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, including managing remote or geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong budgeting and financial oversight skills; experience owning a six-figure+ annual budget preferred
  • Ability to travel frequently (75%+)
