Responsible for designing, developing, and commercializing new products to support company Mission, growth initiatives and profitability commitments. Manage current product lines through cost-out initiatives, quality improvement programs and ensure ongoing compliance with UL and NEC.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Commercialize New Products

  • Work with Sales and Marketing to identify common problems that form new product opportunities. Create suitable new product designs. Validate new product concepts via end-user feedback. Drive products through MGPD process to launch.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to launch products and follow up with next-generation improvements.
  • Evaluate industry requirements and trends, and customer needs. Update products to comply with changing UL, CSA, and NEC standards.
  • Create and maintain effective and complete specifications and documentation for new and existing products consisting of: Engineering drawings, Material specifications, Quality Inspection Plans, Work Instructions, Engineering Change Notices, Purchase Part Approval Forms, etc.
  • Resource development - Recruit proficient and dedicated employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee their development.

Broaden Product Authority

  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of the industry, including changes in code requirements and contractor preferences within electrical hardware, tools, and new categories.
  • Support Sales & Marketing. Provide product support and knowledge to Sales and the entire organization. Provide technical support to customers as needed.
  • Support the Quality function. Develop product manufacturing and quality specifications. Assist the incoming Quality function by solving issues with designs, materials, tooling, etc.

Improve Quality

  • Support the Purchasing function. Evaluate alternative products from new suppliers and existing suppliers. Evaluate new suppliers' systems and capabilities.
  • Work with suppliers to improve products so they meet industry and company standards and requirements. Work with suppliers to solve material, tooling, process, and regulatory problems.

Sustaining Engineering

  • Lead and manage ECN process. Working with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are fully documented and completed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably Mechanical, MS Engineering, or MBA optional.
  • Minimum of 2 years management; 5 years project management; 5 years New Product Development.
  • Preferred experience: electro-mechanical product development, manufacturing systems, tooling, materials, quality systems, supplier interface.
  • Computer proficient (Windows, MS Office, 3D CAD).
