Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Describe overall job purpose.

Qualified candidates must possess knowledge, skills, and job experience in order to perform tasks and assignments associated with pipeline design, construction, operations, and maintenance of hazardous liquids pipeline systems. This position requires the individual to follow all company standards so that work tasks and assignments are completed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to completion of pipeline operations and maintenance tasks and projects in support of facility, pipeline, corrosion, measurement, controls, and engineering projects. Additional responsibilities may include heavy equipment operation, mowing, weed eating, painting, spill and emergency response, building maintenance, pipeline inspection, line locates, etc. Incumbents will be required to pass multiple company welding qualification tests according to API 1104 in addition to possessing and maintaining a valid state welding certification. This position requires a valid Class D driver's license and a clean driving record.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

List any education, certifications, licenses, etc. required for the position.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must possess a valid state welding certification
  • Must possess knowledge, skills, and job-related experience to have completed a welding certification program

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 2+ years' experience as a pipeline welder with knowledge of API 1104 welding regulations
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work with a computer and interface with various levels of management
  • Work with blueprints, sketches, and diagrams
  • Knowledge of transmission pipeline systems and pump stations
  • Participation in the development of O & M procedures, site specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans
  • Heavy equipment operations are a plus
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns, and questions
  • Maintain Operator Qualifications on "Cover Tasks" to meet compliance with DOT regulations
  • Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of pipeline facilities in accordance with company procedures/standards and DOT regulations
  • Maintain and promote safe, healthy, and clean work environment
  • Actively participate in safety committee or other team building groups
  • Participate in DOT/PHMSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
  • All employees are expected to be proactive in the safety & environmental programs
  • Must be able to respond immediately to emergency situations, repairs, and after-hours calls

  • Adherence to all company standards and procedures
  • Clean driving record and maintain current valid driver's license

  • Must understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations including company standards and procedures
  • Ability to travel as needed
