AVS Bio Packing and Shipping Inspection Technician
  • Title: Packing and Shipping Inspection Technician
  • Location: Catskill, NY (No Relocation Available)
  • Industry: Pharmaceutical

  • Job Type: Direct Hire
  • Shift: Full time: 40 hours plus overtime, most shifts require working weekends. 7am-3:30pm (30-minute lunch break)

Overview:
Inspect and examine eggs prior to setting and/or packing for shipment; final packing of eggs and embryos and finishing to customer specifications including completion of paperwork.
  • On a daily basis, review weekly allocation sheet for flock/pack assignments.
  • Daily, review daily/weekly incubation set/pack report for order processing.
  • Following biosecurity standards, re-inspect and assist in packing/setting eggs according to packing/incubation standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or special customer instruction daily.
  • Maintain and complete all required documentation and daily reports pick report, packing slip verification, packing report, trip sheets, export verification check, daily pack inventory, and incubation setting/pack report.
  • Finish and process shipments for dispatch according to assigned carrier UPS, FedEx, airline, truck, etc.
  • Perform operation of candler/grader including calibration, start-up procedure, daily operation, shutdown and clean up.
  • Sort, inspect, load, candle, and grade eggs. Prepare eggs for shipment.
  • Monitor and document daily flock grade-out data for each flock.
  • Process all incubated egg orders set, pack, tray as assigned.
  • Assist in training new hires in department practices.
  • Actively participate in department training programs (e.g. biosecurity, cleaning and disinfecting procedures, environmental testing, pick slip system)
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and is exposed to sanitation chemicals and odors.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • The employee must be available to work seven days a week.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:
  • Housekeeping or restaurant experience required
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • 1 year related experience and/or training.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
