Job description

General Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Senior Manager, this role is responsible for multisite automation initiatives, labor standards governance, and enterprise CI programs. Defines engineering approaches, evaluates emerging technologies, and drives vendor selection and phased deployment strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define automation roadmaps, site selection, and phasing; build standards governance and sustain audits.
  • Maintain PMTS/time study libraries; harmonize incentive plans with ergonomic best practices.
  • Architect task release/interleaving rules; align labor and equipment; write exception handling playbooks.
  • Lead AMR/GTP/robotic case picking evaluations, pilots, and scale-up; define safety zoning and change management.
  • Build throughput, capacity, and labor models; predictive dashboards; scenario analysis for peak events.
  • Develop ROI/payback/TCO models; RFPs and vendor scorecards; negotiate performance SLAs.
  • Own DMAIC pipeline across sites; quantify benefits; ensure control plans and sustainment; coach Black/Green Belts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 6 years in 3PL/warehouse/distribution
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Proven engineered standards, CI, and automation delivery.
  • PMI/PMP or equivalent program management experience.
  • Expertise in PMTS/time study; advanced statistics; ROI modeling; executive communication.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Power BI; AutoCAD/Visio; WMS/LMS data mining; SQL/Python for analytics.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hands-on with AMR safety/interoperability; experience with WES orchestration and digital twins.
  • Experience across union/non-union environments; PE license or advanced IE certifications.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strategic leadership and multi-site program management.
  • Vendor selection/negotiation; financial acumen for automation business cases.
  • Change management and stakeholder alignment across operations and IT.
  • Mentor engineers across all levels and develop talent pipelines.
