Position Description

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented team and be the second-in-command in the kitchen. The Sous Chef plays a key role in managing daily kitchen operations. This includes supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and consistency, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the Executive Chef in menu planning and inventory management. The ideal candidate should be a skilled cook with leadership experience and a passion for food and hospitality. Some key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and service.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and ensure smooth kitchen operations during service.
  • Ensure dishes are prepared and presented according to restaurant standards.
  • Monitor food stock levels and assist in ordering supplies.
  • Enforce health and safety standards in the kitchen (e.g., sanitation, food storage).
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
  • Handle kitchen issues in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
  • Help develop new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Manage food costs by minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.

Position Requirements:

  • Valid Food Handler safety certification.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
