Job description

OverviewThis person will provide support for various areas in the front of house, culinary, and baking and pastry aspects of restaurant operations of the School of Business, Arts & Sciences.Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Must be a Penn College student. Required
  • Must be enrolled in a culinary, baking or pastry related degree program. Required
  • Must maintain 2.0 grade point average. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in the area of culinary arts. Preferred

ABLITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability and/or flexibility to work in all areas which includes front of house, culinary, and baking/pastry aspects of restaurant operations. Preferred
  • Ability to perform simple tasks following oral instruction. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Ability to work on own initiative. Required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, students, faculty, staff. Required
  • Ability and willingness to carry out responsibilities in a positive and timely manner. Required
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chefs with the production of food.
  • Wash pots, pans and food service utensils.
  • Scrape, stack, wash, and sort dishes in dishwasher.
  • Maintain the dishroom and kitchen areas clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assist the Storeroom Attendant with receiving and storing food and supplies.
  • Transport heavy pots, equipment, and supplies between storage and kitchen work areas.
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation procedures in the performance of duties.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean refrigerators and other equipment as needed.
  • Wash, peel, and slice vegetables and fruits as needed.
  • Assist Dish room/Kitchen Helper/Laundry Person with laundering and ironing of linens as needed.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
  • Neat and clean grooming and hygiene habits.
  • Some heavy lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
  • Some exposure to cleaning chemicals and detergents.
