Summary
Support accurate financial operations and drive accounting excellence across the business. As an Accounting Clerk II, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial records while supporting inventory accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting, audit readiness, and efficient accounting processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with numbers, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering accuracy and operational excellence while contributing to the success of a collaborative team.
Position in based on-site at Sioux, IA Center location.
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete daily accounting activities, including reconciliations, to assist in identifying consumption discrepancies from the previous day.
  • Receive, code, enter, and pay various accounts payable bills.
  • Receive harvest information and interpret data.
  • Process livestock payments based on harvest information.
  • Print and interpret bank deposit information for different facilities.
  • Enter bank deposit data into accounting systems.
  • Compile data and reports to assist with the monthly accounting closing process.
  • Assist with observing and auditing physical inventories of meat, packaging, ingredients, and maintenance parts.
  • Support local accounting leadership with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Cross-train with other accounting associates to provide coverage during vacations or leaves.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience or general administrative experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Excel and Word.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Accounting.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting, SAP, and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Additional education or certification in the accounting field.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
  • Remain primarily in a sedentary position but occasionally move between offices or buildings.
  • Move light equipment or supplies as needed.
  • Access files, supplies, and equipment as required.
  • Perform activities that may include bending and climbing.
  • Work in conditions with wet and moist floors, including metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • Experience temperatures ranging from 28°F to 100°F with ambient and up to 100% humidity.
  • Handle products stored between 25°F and 50°F.
  • Work in noise levels ranging from 50 dB to 110 dB.
  • Experience exposure to chemicals used in poultry, food, and processing facilities.
  • Wear and use required protective and safety equipment as directed by the company.
