Through our Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program, OACAC works alongside individuals, families, and communities to address barriers to stability, strengthen self-sufficiency, and create opportunities for long-term economic independence.

Position Overview

OACAC is seeking a Family Resource Specialist to work directly with individuals and families throughout our 10-county service area. In this role, you'll build trusting relationships with families, assess their needs and strengths, develop individualized action plans, connect them with community resources, and provide ongoing support as they work toward their goals.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, problem-solving, connecting individuals with resources, and helping families create meaningful, lasting change.

Work Schedule

• Full-Time
• Approximately 80% travel within OACAC's 10-county service area
• Approximately 20% administrative duties, planning, and reporting
• Meetings may occur at OACAC offices, client homes, community partner locations, or other community locations

Key ResponsibilitiesEligibility and Intake

• Determine program eligibility in accordance with established guidelines
• Review required documentation and ensure all necessary information is provided
• Conduct intake interviews to understand family needs, strengths, and challenges
• Assess client circumstances and identify opportunities for support and improvement

Individualized Case Planning

• Develop individualized case plans based on each family's unique needs and goals
• Work with families to establish realistic goals related to income, housing, employment, education, health, and other areas of stability
• Provide coaching, guidance, and encouragement as families work toward self-sufficiency

Resource Coordination

• Connect clients with OACAC programs and community resources
• Provide referrals to housing assistance, employment programs, healthcare, financial literacy programs, childcare, education, and other services
• Develop and maintain relationships with community service providers
• Help families navigate available resources and services

Case Management and Follow-Up

• Maintain an active caseload of families
• Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to monitor progress
• Track outcomes and adjust case plans as family needs change
• Identify and help address emerging barriers to stability and self-sufficiency

Advocacy and Family Support

• Advocate for families as they navigate complex systems and services
• Assist families in accessing appropriate services and resources
• Support clients in navigating issues such as housing, healthcare, legal services, and other community systems
• Encourage and empower families to take ownership of their goals and progress

Collaboration and Community Engagement

• Collaborate with OACAC staff, community organizations, and service providers
• Participate in case management meetings and community initiatives
• Build relationships with community partners to strengthen resources available to families
• Work collaboratively with the CSBG Community Projects Team

Administration and Reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
• Document client interactions, progress, referrals, and outcomes
• Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner
• Provide administrative and clerical support to the Outreach Center as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of agency and consumer information
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation
• Valid Missouri driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance
• Ability to travel throughout OACAC's 10-county service area
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain confidential client information
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field
• Experience in case management, social services, community services, or a related field
• Experience working with individuals or families experiencing financial or other barriers to stability
• Knowledge of local community resources and service providers

• Ability to work effectively with clients, community partners, and agency staff

Compensation

• Starting pay: $21.27 per hour

Additional InformationWork Environment

This position is primarily community-based and requires frequent travel throughout OACAC's 10-county service area. The Family Resource Specialist may meet with clients at OACAC offices, their homes, community partner locations, or other appropriate locations.

The position provides an opportunity to work directly with families and make a meaningful difference by helping individuals overcome barriers and work toward long-term financial stability and self-sufficiency.

A 90-day probationary period will be observed. Performance during this period will be evaluated based on job knowledge, organization, communication, professional development, work habits, and initiative.
