Job description

Standard Job Description The Manager of the Agentic Workflow Automation team leads the Agent Operations, Agent Development, and Agent Design teams within the Ai/ML Ops team under the Forward Deployed AI/Data Solutions group of the Data and AI Enablement organization. This role oversees approximately 40 professionals-including AI Systems Engineers, AI Systems Architects, and AI Machine Learning Engineers-responsible for designing, developing, and delivering agentic automation solutions that support internal business processes across the enterprise. Reporting directly to the Sr Manager of Forward Deployed AI/Data Solutions, this leader is accountable for the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Agentic Workflow Automation (AWA) team.

The role demands a balance of technical depth, people leadership, and business acumen to deliver both small-scale and large-scale deployments of AI agents, including single-agent and multi-agent (A2A) systems. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & People Management: Mentor and develop front-line leaders, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement Build and retain a high-performing team of AI/ML professionals across multiple technical disciplines Conduct performance management, career development planning, and succession planning for team members Strategic Vision & Execution: Define and execute the team's strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise AI strategies and emerging technologies Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape, evaluating new frameworks, models, and tools for potential adoption Drive the design, development, and delivery of agentic workflow automations that deliver measurable business value Operational Excellence: Manage 1LMX R3 and R4 release impacts to the AWA portfolio, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption Remove organizational and technical blockers, escalating issues as needed to maintain team velocity Oversee budget planning and resource allocation to optimize team effectiveness Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal customers and stakeholders across business units Market AWA capabilities and solutions to drive adoption and identify new automation opportunities Translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences Technical Oversight: Provide architectural guidance and technical direction for complex agentic automation projects Ensure adherence to development standards, security protocols, and governance requirements Champion best practices in AI/ML operations, including monitoring, observability, and continuous integration/deployment Portfolio & Program Management: Prioritize and balance multiple initiatives across the portfolio, managing dependencies and risks Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as automation impact, cycle time reductions, and ROI Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of integrated solutions This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives at the intersection of emerging AI technologies and practical business applications, with a passion for building teams and delivering transformative automation solutions. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field 7+ years of professional experience in software development, AI/ML engineering, or related technical roles Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading teams, projects, or initiatives Experience managing budgets and resource planning Understanding of Python programming language Experience with GitLab for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps workflows Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (OpenShift, Kubernetes) Understanding of agentic automation frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar orchestration tools Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Track record of mentoring and developing technical leaders Desired Skills Experience with open-source RPA and UI automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, pywinauto, or similar libraries Hands-on experience designing and implementing process automations (not limited to AI assistants or chatbots) Knowledge of SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 ecosystem Experience with COTS RPA platforms such as Blue Prism, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or similar tools Understanding of 1LMX business processes and functional architecture Experience working within the 1LMX Release process, including requirements gathering, functional specifications, and testing ADKAR change management methodology certification or experience Agile methodology experience (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) Pay Information GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States.

Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $185400.00 - $344400.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $166900.00 - $309900.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc
