What You'll Get To Do:
The Customs Compliance and Operations Agent will report to Import Manager of PLSA. The main role will be to manage compliance tasks for clients executing best practices related to day-to-day compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for import compliance, and the Bureau of Industry and Security for export control compliance.
Essential Duties:
Compliance Operations
  • Oversee import and export regulatory compliance processes, including:
  • Classification of importer commodities
  • Interface with clients to obtain sufficient information to properly classify
  • Management of PGA data requirements for HTS codes; responsible for keeping system of record updated with accurate PGA information
  • Management of declarations for Section 232; responsible for keeping system of record updated with accurate PGA information
  • Interface with client and client's suppliers to obtain information for PGA requirements to include TSCA, FDA, FCC, APHIS, EPA, and others.
  • Interface with client and client's suppliers to obtain information about Section 232 tariffs to obtain proper declarations
  • Interface with client and client's suppliers to determine ADD and CVD applicability; maintain information in the system of record.
  • Collaborate with PLSA entry team as well as third party brokers to give instructions for clearance. Be responsive to entry brokers' request for information
  • Upload documentation to justify all classification and compliance decisions to system of record consistent with CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Collaborate with export team for any requests for classification
  • Support post-entry changes in the system of record by updating compliance information as needed
  • Assist management to identify and review cost or duty savings opportunities
  • Consult with export team on any compliance questions, review exports for compliance

Reconciliations
  • Responsible for reconciliation operation
  • Track due dates for reconciliations
  • Interface with clients to obtain spreadsheets
  • Frequent and timely communication with clients
  • File reconciliations timely

Other assignments
  • Recordkeeping support
  • SOP support

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for
    • specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong proficiency in PGA requirements, including FDA.
  • Strong proficiency in Trump tariff application

Preferred License(s):
  • Licensed Customs Broker
