Their duties can include monitoring security systems, conducting patrols, managing access to the property, and responding to emergencies or threats. They often work closely with homeowners and may coordinate with law enforcement or private security companies to ensure comprehensive safety. Residential Security Agents can also assess risks and recommend improvements to security protocols. Their presence helps deter criminal activity and provides peace of mind to residents.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Residential Security Agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Residential Security Agent, you need a solid understanding of security protocols, risk assessment, and emergency response, often supported by security training or law enforcement experience. Familiarity with surveillance systems, alarm technology, and sometimes possession of a security officer license are typically required. A Residential Security Agent regularly collaborates with household staff and residents to maintain a secure environment by establishing clear communication channels, conducting safety briefings, and implementing security protocols that fit the household's routines. This role requires discretion, adaptability, and teamwork to balance security measures with the privacy and comfort of those living and working in the residence.

What degree do I need for FPS jobs?

For a Residential Security Agent position, a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. While a college degree is not mandatory, relevant training, security certifications, and experience in security or law enforcement can improve job prospects and performance.

Armed Residential Security Agent - Job Posting

Job Title: Armed Residential Security Agent (RST) Location: Los Angeles, California Employment Type: Full-Time | Part-Time Available Compensation: $32.00 โ€“ $37.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

About the Opportunity

We are seeking highly skilled, disciplined, and professional Armed Residential Security Agents to join our established Residential Security Team (RST). This is a demanding, client-facing role that requires the highest levels of integrity, discretion, and situational awareness. Selected candidates will be embedded at a private high-net-worth residence, working as part of a cohesive security team to provide continuous, around-the-clock protection for the principal and their family.

This position is ideal for candidates with a background in residential security, executive protection, law enforcement, or military service who are ready to bring their expertise to a premier private security environment. Candidates must be self-motivated, physically fit, and capable of operating with sound judgment in dynamic and high-pressure situations.

Core Responsibilities

As an Armed Residential Security Agent, you will serve as a critical line of defense for the principal's residence and household. Your primary duty is to ensure the safety, security, and privacy of the client and their family at all times. You will conduct regular interior and exterior patrols, monitor CCTV and access control systems, and maintain a detailed activity log for all shift handovers in accordance with established Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures.

You will control and verify access to the residence, screening all visitors, vendors, contractors, and service personnel before granting entry. In the event of a security anomaly, intrusion, or emergency - including medical, fire, or law enforcement situations - you will act as the first responder, coordinating with emergency services and the broader security team as required. You will also support the safe arrival and departure of the principal and family members, maintaining a low-profile, professional presence at all times.

Accurate and thorough documentation is a core expectation of this role. You will prepare detailed incident reports, maintain shift logs, and communicate all relevant information to incoming team members during handovers. Strict confidentiality regarding the client's personal life, routines, and household operations is non-negotiable.

Required Licenses & Credentials

All candidates must possess and maintain the following active, valid California credentials at the time of application. Candidates who do not hold all three credentials will not be considered.

Experience & Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years of verifiable, paid experience in residential security is required. This experience must demonstrate direct involvement in protecting a private residence, high-net-worth household, or comparable principal protection environment. Experience in executive protection, law enforcement, or military service in a protective capacity will also be considered, provided it is directly relevant to residential security operations.

Candidates must hold a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record, as driving assignments may be required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interact with clients, guests, and staff in a courteous, professional, and service-oriented manner. The ability to de-escalate tense situations calmly and effectively is a key competency for this role.

This position requires physical stamina. Agents must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, conducting thorough foot patrols, and responding rapidly and decisively to emergencies. Candidates must be available to work 8- to 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as the security program operates on a 24/7/365 basis.

All candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, civil records, employment verification, social media review, and a motor vehicle report (MVR). A pre-employment drug screening is also required.

Prior experience protecting high-profile individuals, celebrities, or ultra-high-net-worth families is a significant advantage. Candidates with prior military service in a combat or special operations capacity, or former law enforcement officers with demonstrated leadership experience, are encouraged to apply. Advanced defensive tactics training, tactical firearms qualifications, and familiarity with residential alarm systems and CCTV platforms will also strengthen a candidate's application.
