Job description

Shop Fabrication Manager – Palmetto State Glass

At Palmetto State Glass, we don't just craft commercial glazing systems-we build a workplace rooted in respect, quality, and collaboration. As a locally trusted leader in the glazing industry, our team values hands-on dedication and clear communication, all while embracing a culture that prioritizes safety and craftsmanship.

We're currently looking for a motivated Fabrication Shop Manager to take charge of our busy fabrication shop. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your leadership guides skilled teams to success, this role will give you the chance to make a real impact-ensuring smooth operations, strong quality, and seamless project coordination every day.

What You'll Do

Lead daily shop operations, from project planning through to completion, managing resources and workflow efficiently.
Supervise, train, and support shop personnel to meet our quality and productivity goals.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers to align fabrication schedules with project priorities and deadlines.
Review fabrication drawings and compare them with shop plans and field measurements to maintain accuracy.
Drive a culture of safety by enforcing policies, maintaining PPE and tools, and promoting accountability.
Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure all materials meet specifications and standards.
Manage inventory through regular counts, material requisitions, and overseeing staging for job site delivery.
Complete daily reports and proactively communicate progress, challenges, or delays to Project Managers.
Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment following 5S principles.

What We Are Looking For

Experienced leader with a background as a Shop Foreman or Fabrication Shop Manager, ideally in commercial glass or related construction fields.
Comfortable reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and work orders, with solid knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, and glazing systems.
Organized, communicative, and able to juggle multiple projects while supporting your team.
Committed to safety, with a genuine interest in fostering a responsible work culture.
Physically capable of standing for long periods, moving heavy materials, and working at heights when necessary.
Willing to obtain forklift certification and hold a valid driver's license with the ability to pass a background check.
Dependable work ethic and hands-on approach, ready to lead by example in a dynamic shop environment.

What We Offer

Joining Palmetto State Glass means becoming part of a team that values your expertise and growth. We provide competitive benefits and real opportunities to advance within the company. You'll enjoy working with passionate colleagues committed to quality and safety in a supportive atmosphere. Plus, our shop environment is equipped for success-with a focus on continuous improvement and respect for every team member's role.

Working Conditions

This role is based in a fabrication shop that experiences various weather conditions and the usual sounds and bustle of a construction environment. Safety is a top priority, so PPE and protective gear are provided and required. The work is hands-on and physical but fulfilling for those who take pride in seeing projects come to life through their leadership.
