Job description

We’re looking for a Scenic CAD / Vectorworks Designer who can bridge the gap between creative vision and real-world fabrication.

This role goes beyond drafting—you’ll be designing custom scenic builds, stage environments, and branded experiences that come to life in the field. If you enjoy seeing your designs physically built and executed, this is that role.

What You’ll Do

  • Create detailed Vectorworks/CAD drawings for scenic fabrication and event environments
  • Translate creative concepts into buildable, production-ready designs
  • Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and clients to refine concepts
  • Develop layouts for staging, structures, and event environments
  • Revise designs quickly based on feedback and real-time project needs
  • Ensure designs meet engineering, safety, and production requirements
  • Support shop builds and coordinate with internal teams during execution
  • Contribute creative ideas and solutions for complex or custom builds

What You Bring

  • Proficiency in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD (Vectorworks strongly preferred)
  • Experience in scenic fabrication, events, exhibits, or construction-related design
  • Strong understanding of materials, build methods, and real-world constraints
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Solid communication skills—you can explain your designs clearly
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational habits

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with 3ds Max, SketchUp, or Rhino
  • Background in theatrical design, exhibits, or live events
  • Knowledge of graphics, branding, or environmental design

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Your designs actually get built and experienced live
  • Work on a wide range of high-impact, creative projects
  • Collaborative team across design, production, and fabrication
  • Opportunity to grow within a well-established company
