About the Opportunity:

Join an expanding aircraft maintenance organization in Kansas City specializing in piston aircraft repairs and light turbine maintenance. As the Lead A&P Mechanic with FAA Inspection Authorization (IA), you will play a crucial role in ensuring aircraft safety and operational efficiency. This role is ideal for seasoned mechanics eager to lead a dynamic team, foster career growth, and excel in a thriving aviation environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft to meet organizational, FAA, and customer standards.
  • Oversee and schedule mechanics, apprentices, and technicians, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of general aviation aircraft systems, rigging, and piston powerplants.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of FAA regulations and perform AD research.
  • Manage and coordinate inspections on various piston airframes, engines, and accessories.
  • Partner with office staff and parts team, maintaining inventory levels and ensuring timely customer commitments.
  • Accurately estimate job hours and materials, and maintain detailed work orders and records.
  • Operate required ground support equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, OSHA, and FAA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, setting clear updates and expectations.
  • Provide coaching, oversight, and performance assessment for team members.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Extensive understanding of aircraft mechanical systems and their interactions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant FAA regulations.
  • Experience with various airframes, engines, and accessories.
  • Past experience leading, training, or mentoring A&Ps and technicians.
  • Ability to accurately estimate repair hours and materials.
  • Capable of ground running/taxiing aircraft and operating systems.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate holder.
  • Minimum two years holding an FAA Inspection Authorization.
  • No prior FAA enforcement actions.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
  • Light turbine aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with EBIS/Veryon Work Center MRO software is a plus.
