Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Raytheon is hiring system engineering co-ops as a part of the Raytheon Cooperative Education Program (Co-op). This is a part-time, remote role targeting senior or postgraduate students with an expected graduation date of May 2027 or August 2027 in Computer Science or a related STEM field. The part-time position is planned to begin in Summer 2026.
• Upon selection, Co-op participants will complete a Co-op Program Agreement and will be submitted for a U.S. Government security clearance, including completion of the Standard Form 86 (SF-86).
• Co-op participants must maintain eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance throughout the program and subsequent employment.
A Raytheon Co-op Program Information Seminar will be scheduled in conjunction with candidate interview sessions.
In the Systems Engineer role, you will utilize and grow your knowledge with regards to clarification of requirements, system engineering analyses, algorithm development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. This position is for an onsite role in Richardson, TX.

What You Will Do:
  • Analyze and define how the system works creating use cases
  • Decompose requirements, define system interfaces and help determine how requirements will be validated and verified by the test team
  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, or Flight Test activities in our labs, in the field, or at a test range
  • Support qualification of our products
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
  • Support and attend technical reviews and technical interchanges in support of the program
  • Be a self-starter and work well with minimum supervision

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Enrolled in a Masters' of Systems Engineering degree program with an expected graduation date of May 2027 or August 2027
  • Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
  • Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby
  • Exposure to data analysis using tools such as MATLAB

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Specific majors: Systems Engineering or related scientific or STEM discipline
  • 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Proficient use of both Windows and UNIX platform
  • Experience with Perl, Python, VBA, and/or other scripting languages
  • Exposure to Agile Development Principles
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Previous internship experience
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle, roles and functions
  • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others (or coworkers).

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
