Job description

The Senior Manager role offers the opportunity to lead revenue cycle transformation within a growing organization dedicated to compassionate, value-based cancer care. As Senior Manager, you will strengthen the financial operations that support timely access to care, improve the patient financial experience, and help clinical teams stay focused on patients. This is a visible leadership role for a results-driven RCM professional who can diagnose performance gaps, partner across teams and vendors, and build sustainable improvements that reduce denials, improve cash performance, and enhance affordability and transparency.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Revenue Cycle (RCM) SWAT Team is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing rapid-response initiatives, vendor performance, and operational excellence across billing, collections, and patient financial support. This leader drives resolution of complex revenue cycle challenges, ensuring optimal vendor performance, financial outcomes, and patient experience.

The role partners cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify gaps, deploy targeted interventions, and sustain long-term improvements in revenue cycle performance. It can be performed remotely, from anywhere within the contiguous United States.

Key Responsibilities:

SWAT Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead a specialized RCM SWAT team focused on rapid assessment and stabilization of underperforming functions across billing, collections, and financial counseling.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, root causes of denials, revenue leakage, and patient experience issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans with measurable outcomes and timelines.
  • Serve as escalation point for high-risk or complex revenue cycle challenges.

Vendor Management & Strategy

  • Support relationships with third-party vendors supporting billing, collections, early-out, bad debt, and patient financial services.
  • Conduct regular vendor performance reviews, scorecards, and operational audits.
  • Drive continuous improvement and accountability to maximize vendor efficiency and financial returns.
  • Lead vendor selection, onboarding, contract optimization, and training.

Billing & Collections Optimization

  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to optimize end-to-end billing and collections workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and payer guidelines.
  • Analyze denial trends, A/R performance, and cash acceleration opportunities.
  • Implement best practices to improve clean claim rates, reduce A/R days, and increase yield.

Patient Financial Experience

  • Ensure patient-centric practices that enhance transparency, affordability, and satisfaction.
  • Monitor patient complaints, Financial Counselor call quality, and engagement metrics.

Data Analytics & Performance Management

  • Utilize data analytics to monitor key RCM metrics (e.g., cash collections, denial rates, A/R aging, vendor productivity).
  • Maintain dashboards and executive reporting to track progress and outcomes.
  • Translate data insights into actionable strategies and operational improvements.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with revenue cycle leadership, finance, compliance, and operations to align strategies.
  • Serve as liaison between internal teams and vendors to resolve issues and drive alignment.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and performance updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications

Required

  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party vendors in billing, collections, or patient financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes, payer regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proven track record of driving performance improvement and financial results.

Preferred

  • Experience leading SWAT, rapid improvement, or performance turnaround teams.
  • Familiarity with multiple RCM platforms and vendor management tools.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field.
