JOB SUMMARY:

The Controller / Finance & Operations Manager is a leader responsible for the financial management, compliance, and operational oversight of a multi-entity business structure, including SRLs/LLCs, real estate holding companies, and related operating entities. This role oversees accounting, reporting, cash management, and entity-level compliance across a portfolio of multifamily properties in Wisconsin and Florida.

This position functions as both a strategic financial leader and hands-on operator, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient business operations.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for multiple entities (LLCs/SRLs and affiliated companies)
  • General ledger activity
  • Month-end and year-end close processes
  • Bank and account reconciliations

Prepare and analyze:

  • Consolidated and entity-level financial statements
  • Cash flow forecasts and capital planning models
  • Budget vs. actual variance reporting
  • Maintain intercompany accounting structures and eliminations
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms on tax filings and audits

Taxes

Insurance

  • Payroll

Real Estate Portfolio Oversight (Multifamily)

  • Monitor financial performance of multifamily properties across Wisconsin and Florida
  • Oversee:
    • Rent rolls, revenue tracking, and occupancy metrics

    • Capital expenditure tracking and ROI analysis

Partner with property management teams to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment

  • Approve and monitor:
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Distributions, owner draws, and capital calls
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and fraud prevention practices

Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with:
    • CPA firms
    • Property management companies
    • Legal counsel
    • Financial institutions

REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities)

  • 5โ€“10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Prior experience in:
    • Real estate accounting (multifamily preferred)
    • Multi-entity or complex ownership structures
  • Experience operating in multiple states (Wisconsin and/or Florida strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • GAAP and real estate accounting principles
    • Intercompany accounting and consolidations
    • Cash flow modeling and financial forecasting
  • Experience with accounting and property management systems (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
