Job description

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder in nuclear submarines, is seeking Logistics Analysts to join our Material Control team. Material Control maintains warehouse and buffer storage for all Submarine Programs.

The successful candidate must be a decision maker, able to work with minimal direction, and make timely and accurate decisions. The Logistics Analyst is expected to support the department’s strategic vision, management of priorities and resolve customer questions and problems. The Logistics Analyst is part of a team that is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy level of 97.5% or greater and will be expected to use strategic fortitude to ensure these requirements are met and corrective actions are taken if they are not met. The Logistics Analyst will aid in evaluating current processes and take action to support process improvement initiatives to reduce handling and warehouse cost while improving customer service. The successful candidate will be expected to have knowledge of and maintain full compliance with the attributes of Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvements.

This position is not an entry level position, this position is an extension of management with the expectation to document and report on performance based goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports Material Control; specifically the business and process of management and movement of material needed to support construction of all classes of submarines built at Electric Boat
  • The position requires a strategic thinking individual who can interpret technical requirements and has acumen to draft and/or modify policies and procedures as needed to adapt to current practices
  • Keen understanding of logistics management, data management, project reporting, material availability analysis, review of schedules, support up and downstream customers, and metrics reporting
  • The position will entail significant interaction with various customers, EB & SUPSHIP Program Offices, NAVSEA and NAVSUP, Operations, Planning Departments, Purchasing, various Quality Departments, Government Agencies, Newport News Ship Building, and EB Off-Site Departments
  • Candidates will need to be decision makers; required to monitor and aid in resolving issues with purchased (MILSTRIP or Commercially Purchased) or subcontract material, material ordering and scheduling, shortage resolution, and forecasting material requirement
  • Fiscal understanding when analyzing documents and when purging material as scrap or excess.
  • Candidates require daily use of various reports and computer driven systems
  • Must be well versed in inventory policies, warehousing, material packaging and handling and materials management
  • Establish and maintain metrics that support the strategic goals of Material Control

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.   


Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 1 year of supply chain and/or logistics experience 
  • Must be able to work all shifts 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance from the Department of Defence
  • This position will require weekend duty standing and/or may require off shift duty work as needed

  • Associates degree or higher Bachelors degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • 3 plus years of supply chain and/or logistics experience
