Job Description
The primary focus of this position is to support RSO research and development projects, which includes putting together project schedules, test plans, reviewing deliverables, providing subject matter expertise on a variety of different topics related to explosives, chemical threats, and detection technologies. This can include summarizing reports, creating PowerPoints, Excel spreadsheets, assist with drafting Statements of Work, liaison with inter-agency and international partners, responding to taskers on related efforts, drafting technical products, drafting requirements for RSO projects, setting up technical interchanges with Stakeholders, providing meeting minutes, and tracking risks.The primary focus for support is continual, ongoing core characterization projects and may include ad-hoc taskers derived from changing or newly acquired or mandated requirements.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Must have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance. Existing Secret Clearance is a plus.
  • DHS Suitability:Must be able to pass DHS Suitability screening and/or DHS financial responsibility standards. This is simply another security screening.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on field experience or related research experience and degree in explosives related science.
  • Must have specialized knowledge and training in chemical composition, formulation, and ability to detonate explosive compounds to include thorough knowledge of commercial, military and improvised explosive devices;
  • Must have familiarity with industry accepted testing procedures for explosive materials;
  • Must have expertise in calculation of effective atomic number, synthetic methods and associated particle morphology resulting from different synthetic methods;
  • Must have expertise in the compilation of data to determine detectability parameters.

Desirable:
  • Direct experience working with the DHS/ TSA systems, SOP's, checkpoints, and checked baggage.
  • Direct experience with the acquisition of complex Explosive Detection Systems [EDS], Advanced Technology (AT) and Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT), Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Is preferably knowledgeable of TSA systems and familiar with the DoD or DHS acquisition process.
