Emergent Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced Expert Network Engineer to join our mission-focused team supporting a key government program. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in network architecture, routing and switching technologies, and cloud and software-defined networking solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale environments while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the design of cutting-edge network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable enterprise and cloud-based network infrastructures
  • Configure and troubleshoot advanced routing and switching protocols (EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, STP, LACP, VTP)
  • Deploy and support MPLS and SD-WAN solutions in production environments
  • Leverage automation tools and scripts to optimize and maintain network efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce detailed network designs, implementation plans, and technical documentation
  • Provide Tier 3/4 technical support and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Present and defend technical designs to architecture and security review boards
  • Continuously research and adopt new networking technologies to maintain modern and efficient systems
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 11 years of relevant network engineering experience
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Network architecture and design
    • Routing and switching technologies
    • Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
    • Network automation tools and techniques
    • Software-defined networking (e.g., SD-WAN)
  • Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation
  • Independent learner with a demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or managing large-scale network environments
  • Prior work in federal or enterprise-scale environments
  • Demonstrated success in resolving complex network issues and improving performance
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent
  • Strong willingness and ability to stay up to date with emerging technologies
