Job description

We''re looking for a Network DevOps Engineer with a strong enterprise networking background who has successfully transitioned into network automation development. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building automation through code while supporting large-scale Cisco and Azure network environments.

Location: Hybrid – San Francisco Bay Area (Periodic onsite in San Francisco & San Ramon)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop network automation for software upgrades, configuration management, compliance validation, and remediation across on-premises and Azure environments.
  • Develop automation using Python, Terraform, REST APIs, and Azure DevOps.
  • Build and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD (YAML) pipelines with automated testing, validation, deployment, rollback, and compliance checks.
  • Leverage Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate automation development, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner with network engineers to convert manual operational processes into automated, code-driven workflows.
  • Automate integrations with Cisco Catalyst Center, Nexus Dashboard, Cisco SD-WAN vManage, Azure Resource Manager, F5, ThousandEyes, and Forward Networks.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support enterprise Cisco Routing & Switching, SD-WAN, Firepower/FTD Firewalls, Wireless, F5 Load Balancers, and Azure Networking.
  • Participate in Tier-2 support, root cause analysis, change management, and an after-hours on-call rotation.

Required Skills

  • 3–6 years of enterprise Network Engineering experience with recent NetDevOps/Network Automation experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with:
    • Python and REST API automation
    • Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
    • Azure DevOps Repos & YAML Pipelines
    • Git-based development workflows
    • Claude Code and/or GitHub Copilot
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco Routing & Switching (VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP/VRRP, QoS).
  • Experience with Cisco SD-WAN, Firepower/FTD, Catalyst Wireless, F5, and Azure Networking (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN, VPN Gateway, Azure Firewall).
  • Experience with ThousandEyes, Forward Networks, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, and network monitoring/automation platforms.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP Enterprise or Cisco DevNet Associate/Professional certification.
  • Experience with AIOps, LLM-assisted automation, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or AI-driven infrastructure workflows.
  • Exposure to VXLAN/EVPN, Cisco Nexus 9000, Zero Trust, or micro-segmentation.
  • Experience working in ITIL-based enterprise environments.

Ideal Candidate

  • 50% DevOps | 50% Network Engineering
  • Enterprise networking experience is required.
  • Financial services experience is a plus but not required.
  • Passionate about infrastructure automation, DevOps practices, and AI-assisted software development.
