Job description

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities The Revenue Litigation Bureau is responsible for recovering debts owed to state agencies. Those cases include tort cases arising from damage to state property, collection actions to recover fines and penalties, grant recovery, and a variety of statutory actions. The Bureau also administers the Illinois Estate and Generation Skipping Transfer Tax.

The Bureau reviews all Illinois estate tax returns and litigates estate tax issues in state court as needed. Qualifications The Revenue Litigation Bureau is seeking candidates with an interest in Estate Tax. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois at the time of application.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience in estate planning. A strong candidate will have sound judgment, a commitment to public service and an interest in tax audits and litigation work. Litigation experience, which includes motion and discovery practice, is a plus.

An advanced tax degree, such as LL.M. in Taxation, or a CPA is also a plus. Supplemental Information Salary: Salaries are commensurate with number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and range from $ 84,480 to $ 107,550
