Job description

Position Summary:
The Athletic Trainer CCU will, under the supervision of a licensed physician, provide sport coverage and associated duties as assigned at Coastal Carolina University as directed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Medical Services at CCU.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years applicable experience required.
  • Five (5) years' applicable experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties of athletic trainer consistent with regulations of national certification board (BOC) and the South Carolina Athletic Trainer Practice Act under the supervision and guidance of the physician and Athletic Medical Director.
  • Work under the professional supervision of the Athletic Medical Director, perform evaluations and assign appropriate treatment protocols to injuries and/or illnesses related to student-athlete participation in Coastal Carolina University Intercollegiate Athletics Program to include return to play decisions as guided by medical professionals.
  • Assist with the coordination of activities in assigned athletic training room facilities and coverage of assigned practice and competitions including travel when deemed appropriate and/or necessary.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate medical professionals as necessary and assist with processing of insurance claims as directed. Assist with oversight and supervision of resident athletic training staff, student athletic training staff, and any assigned intern athletic training staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
