Physiologist Jobs (NOW HIRING)

This position is located at the VA Boston Healthcare System, Research Service Line in Boston, MA. The Physiologist performs exercise/functional assessments, provides exercise prescription/supervision as detailed in the study protocols, and organizes/participates in other research-related activities, including recruitment and screening of research participants, and data analysis as determined by the Principal Investigator (PI).Qualifications:English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree (or higher level degree) in one of the basic animal sciences or physiology; or a related discipline or field of science that included at least 24 semester hours in the basic animal sciences, of which 10 semester hours were in animal physiology. Courses such as anatomy; cytology; invertebrate and vertebrate zoology; embryology; entomology; animal, dairy and poultry husbandry; nutrition; genetics; and physiology may be used to meet the 24-semester-hour requirement in the basic animal sciences. Courses in physiology, animal or human physiology, cellular physiology or courses that were well oriented toward animal or human physiology, e.g., some advanced courses in biochemistry, are qualifying as animal physiology courses. Courses in related fields such as cytology and microbiology (including microbial physiology) may also be qualifying, provided the course work dealt directly with the application of scientific principles underlying animal physiology, or with the methodology and techniques applied in animal physiology work. In addition to meeting the English Language Proficiency and Basic Education Requirement above, to qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following:
Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Physiologist, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience in health and medical sciences, including participant eligibility assessment for research studies, exercise programming and adaptation, and effective oral and written communication. Skilled in qualitative and quantitative analytics to ensure research integrity, knowledgeable in research policies, human subjects protections, and relevant privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FOIA). Demonstrates understanding of age-specific needs for older participants and adherence to safety policies, including aseptic techniques, to maintain a secure research environment. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~
Education: Successfully completed two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of a Physiologist. This education must have been obtained in an accredited in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Combination: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level. This education portion must include graduate courses that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of a Physiologist and must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Must maintain annual ACLS/CRP/BLS certifications, and prefer a master's level exercise physiologist.
