Job description

Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist

Responsible for designing, evaluation and supervising exercise program for Cardiac Rehab patients and Bridge to Wellness participants in consultation with the Medical Director for Cardiac Rehab patients in accordance with evidence-based training principles and within the limits of the patient's medical diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Updates exercise prescription on a weekly basis based on clinical status and responses to exercise.
  • Assist in monitoring the cardiac rehab sessions and maintains records of pertinent information obtained during the session on each patient.
  • Assist in monitoring EKG and blood pressure responses in patients during the exercise therapy program.
  • Maintains a team approach in working with the Medical Director, the referring physician, Dietitians, Exercise Psychologists Nurses, and Respiratory Therapist to deliver a safe and effective plan of care.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Cardiac Rehab department equipment and exercises proper use of the equipment.
  • Provides group educational lectures and in-services to staff, members and patients.
  • Develops a discharge plan as it relates to progression, intensity, duration and frequency of home exercise program.
  • Instructs new patients in the safe use of the exercise and resistance equipment.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or equivalent in related health field. Master's degree preferred. Must have ACSM certification within 1 year of hire date. Certified in BCLS required. Minimum of two years' experience in the field of cardiac rehab preferred.
