Job description

Job Description:

Our Opportunity:  

Chewy is seeking a Food Safety Program Manager - Regulatory Support to support the continued growth of our Fulfillment Network. The Regional Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for partnering with the Site Operations team, Continuous Improvement, Learning, Quality, and Facility teams to manage the deliverables required at the FC network. They will support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the food safety program by providing technical leadership for pest control, sanitation, good distribution practices, temperature control, and other facets of title 21 of the code of federal regulations. This role will work cross functionally to perform risk assessments and provide guidance on corrective measures.    

What You'll Do:  

  • Audit Fulfillment Centers (FC) on a regular cadence and provide direct feedback to the site leadership regarding findings.  

  • Initiate, and propose closure of corrective actions taken.  

  • Provide input for potential preventive and corrective actions to be taken.  

  • Support the development, adherence, and improvement of food safety policies, trainings, and procedures.  

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate training for food safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.  

  • Work closely with Quality to mitigate negative customer feedback.  

  • Independently provide technical guidance on pest exclusion, sanitation, and good distribution practices.  

  • Evaluate equipment and activities around the FC network against risk assessments and internal policies.  

What You'll Need:  

  • BS in Chemistry, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Engineering or related technical field is required  

  • Advanced MS in Chemistry, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Engineering or related technical field is preferred  

  • Minimum of 2+ years in Food Safety and Quality Control in a distribution, warehousing, and/or manufacturing setting.  

  • Must be PCQI certified.  

  • HACCP, SQF/BRC certification preferred.  

  • Extensive knowledge of FDA regulations and how to apply them, specifically 21 CFR 502, 117, and 1.  

  • Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.  

  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgement, customer focus, and vendor focus skills.  

  • Ability to analyze and verify record data, corrective measures, and to perform a hazard analysis of both commodity types and processes.  

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.  

  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments.  

  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%  

The hourly range for this role is $39.90 - $63.70.
