About the Role
We are partnering with a global, diversified manufacturing and technology leader to hire a Project Manager who will drive the planning and execution of automation and capital projects across their distribution network. Our client is a Fortune 500 science-based company with operations spanning industrial, safety, healthcare, and consumer markets, and they are investing heavily in modernizing their supply chain through advanced warehouse automation. This is an excellent opportunity to lead high-impact initiatives that directly influence productivity, capacity, and customer service at an enterprise scale.


Job Description
The Project Manager will lead automation and capital projects from concept through implementation, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and operational performance objectives are consistently achieved. This role partners with Operations, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, vendors, and integrators to deliver innovative warehouse automation solutions in a fast-paced distribution environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in project management, continuous improvement, and industrial engineering principles, along with the ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading automation and capital projects from concept through implementation, ensuring delivery is safe, on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Developing and managing project charters, schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk registers, and executive status reports.
  • Coordinating cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, IT, Maintenance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and external vendors.
  • Managing installation, commissioning, and startup activities for automation and capital equipment.
  • Supporting the implementation of warehouse automation technologies, including:
    • Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
    • Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
    • Conveyor and sortation systems
    • Robotics and vision systems
    • Warehouse Execution Systems (WES)
    • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
    • Printing and labeling automation
  • Leading vendor selection, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and project closeout.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Developing business cases and ROI analyses for capital investments.
  • Monitoring project performance through KPIs and ensuring successful operational handoff to the business.
  • Maintaining compliance with company safety, quality, and engineering standards.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree with at least 5 years of experience managing automation, capital, engineering, or supply chain projects.
  • Experience delivering cross-functional capital or automation projects in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, material handling systems, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience implementing automation technologies within manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including process mapping, root cause analysis, DMAIC, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management fundamentals, including scope management, schedule management, budget and cost control, risk management, change management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and other project management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor''s degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with warehouse automation technologies such as ASRS, AMRs, robotics, conveyor systems, and WES.
  • Knowledge of capital planning, engineering design, and system integration.
  • Experience with ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (SAP, SAP EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, etc.).
