Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Work associated with this position, which is located within the Produce Warehouse, includes selecting, stacking, wrapping, and performing tasks related to the shipping of orders. The Produce Warehouse includes products that have strict temperature requirements. General warehouse duties occur within the assigned area of warehouse operations, but the position supports all areas of the warehouse, as needed.
Starting at: $19.85, plus incentive pay.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Selects/obtains appropriate equipment.
  • Obtains assignments utilizing automated voice recognition computer system.
  • Stack products, as they are selected, on pallets, according to specifications to ensure maximum cube utilization with minimum damage.
  • Secures pallets with plastic wrap for shipment to stores.
  • Maintain production percentage based on engineered labor standards.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, as required.
  • Position pallets properly on trailers.
  • Ensure efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to "Run the Best Store in Town!"
  • Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist on the dock with proper loading of trucks.
  • Sanitation tasks.
  • Stock slots.
  • Operates forklift, if certified, as needed.
  • Ensures that at end of shift, pallet jack is placed on charger.
  • Occasional yard work.
  • Understand and follow confidentiality policy regarding company information as well as personnel information
  • Other tasks assigned for completion as assigned by direct supervisor or Company Executive Official.
  • Utilize time management skills and prioritization to accomplish tasks through management team and associates.
  • Follow all safety and security measures and guidelines.

EQUIPMENT:
  • Electric-powered Pallet Jack
  • Forklift, if certified
  • Sanitation equipment (Sweeper, Floor Scrubber)
  • Fire Extinguisher

COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENT:
  • Ability to use intercom to relay information to Forklift Operators regarding empty slots.
  • Ability to receive and complete work assignments via "wired or Bluetooth headset communication".
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work performed on floors made of concrete.
  • Warehouse conditions associated with this position are typical as related to noise, light, dust, and physical demands.
  • Refrigerated warehouse - varying temperature ranges.
  • Cold and damp.
  • Slick floors, due to cold temperature and type of commodities being worked with.
  • Normal smoke free warehouse environment.
  • Adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Normal temperature level with occasional temperature conditions of a refrigerated cooler and occasional outdoor temperature levels.
  • Noise level normal of a warehouse environment.
  • Freedom of movement typical of a warehouse environment.

SAFETY REQUIREMENT/HAZARDS:
  • Overhead stacking may be difficult.
  • Must observe proper lifting techniques.
  • Must be able to operate equipment in congested area.
  • Slick floors - must maintain footing.
  • Must understand battery changing and charging procedures.
  • Use of equipment requires caution
  • Utilizing and enforcing proper operating procedures, cleaning instructions (safety gloves, etc.), and proper usage age guideline is critical.
  • Monitor and maintain fire extinguisher location and charge levels.
  • Monitor and maintain proper lifting procedures are in place and utilized.
  • Follow and enforce all policy regarding keeping electrical panels and emergency exits free of debris and always unblocked.
  • Following ice and snow removal guidelines as well as wet floor signs during inclement weather or liquid spills.

WORK LOCATIONS:
  • This position is in the Produce Warehouse.
  • This position is generally performed in the assigned area of warehouse operations.
  • From time to time, it will be necessary to travel to various meeting locations as deemed necessary by supervision.

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Rotating schedules, mostly on second shift [4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.), with four ten-hour days.
  • Must be available for overtime.
  • The payroll week runs from Monday through Sunday.
  • Working hours are set by Warehouse Manager and should also correspond to work volume or volume planning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to do repetitive lifting, bending, stooping as required to stack products on to pallets.
  • Ability to do repetitive mounting/dismounting of electric-powered pallet jack equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to chest-high level.
  • Ability to walk on concrete floor for up to ten (10) hours a day.
  • Ability to work in cold and damp environment.
  • Ability to meet standard physical demands is required, including bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, and pulling.
  • Ability to use hands for repetitive action, such as grasping.

VISUAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to see under normal lighting conditions.
  • Ability to read small print.
  • Ability to read case dating codes for purposes of performing rotation.
  • Ability to recognize signs and symbols.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures and safety information.
  • Must possess ability to view computer screen, printed reports, product ingredient labels, and product date codes effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to see under normal warehouse and office environment.

MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Must remain alert for safety.
  • Must concentrate on work for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Must be able to read, write and complete basic math calculations.
  • Must possess ability to handle stressful situations in handling of a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Requires the ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Perform routine tasks and have a constant contact/interaction with many people daily.
  • Must be able to make immediate decisions always using sound judgment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous warehouse experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Good physical condition and stamina.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily
  • Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties.
