Job description

We are looking for a Registered Sleep Lab Technician to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!
What You'll Do:
Prepares patient to have PSG, MSLT, MWT and CPAP titration according to the guidelines of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM); sets up testing and diagnostic equipment; explains and educates procedure to patient; performs routine and difficult polysomnographic recordings in the Sleep Laboratory; applies electrodes. Calibrates equipment to include EEG/Computer, respiratory, cardiac and other monitoring systems; recognizes respiratory, cardiac, EEG and sleep related abnormalities; initiates emergency procedures including cases of cardiac and/or respiratory potentially dangerous cardiac abnormalities (including all types of sleep apnea), seizures and psychiatric emergencies. Collects information from charts and/or patient pertinent to interpretation of polysomnograms; analyzes polysomnographic data; assists in educating patients and medical staff in all aspects of Sleep Disorders testing (PSG, MSLT, MWT). Scores test recordings for physician interpretation. Follows infection control policy and procedures, including hand washing techniques and body fluid precautions; provides care needed as described in the Sleep Laboratory policy and procedures manual; manages daily operations in absence of the Sleep Lab Coordinator. Participates in tech meetings; maintains equipment in good working order; makes minor equipment repairs as necessary and reports equipment malfunction to Coordinator; assures electrical safety of equipment; keeps inventory of supplies; maintains all necessary patient related demographics; administers sleep in-takes; schedules patients; pre-certifies insurance; completes billing; initiates CPAP set-up; maintains phone coverage; assists in training of new technician in the Sleep Laboratory. Collates and archives patient data; assists in the compiling of data for QA/PI initiatives; acts as a hospital representative to community educational events and health fairs and assists in the marketing of sleep lab services to local physician offices. Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours. Exhibits behaviors reflective of Memorial's core values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Service. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements. Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's and department's Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline.
Requirements
High school diploma, one year biological sciences or an equivalent of experience in the medical field. Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required; attainment of Certification from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is required.
