Job description


Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct electrical, optical, thermal, and timing measurements of optical transceiver. Create optical transceiver specification compliance reports.
Conduct new design or revision of PCBA of the optical transceiver.
Conduct RF simulation of the high speed signal communication link.
Debug and troubleshoot optical transceiver issues. Be able to work independently.
Create drawings, BOMS and ECO to document design. Interact with program manager, buyer/planner, suppliers to make sure designed parts are available in timely manner for build
Support of resolving all DFM issues from engineering and factory feedback
Support transceiver design review for Architectural, EVT, DVT phase review.
Education & Experience
  • B.S. EE degree with 2 year experience required
  • M.S. preferred
  • Ph.D. a plus

Skills
  • Strong analog circuit design skills required
  • Strong understanding of circuit theory, linear system theory, feedback, ICs, and high speed RF fundamentals required
  • Strong laboratory measurement skills required
  • Experience with board level design cycle
  • Experience with electronics CAD tools and electronic system modelling
  • Expertise in RF design using modeling tools such as CST or HFSS a plus
  • Understanding of microprocessors and real time control firmware a plus
  • Understanding of optical transceiver design is a plus

Working Conditions
  • This position is onsite
  • May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
  • Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
  • May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive's needs

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
  • Use of hands and fingers for operating computers and lab equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design and develop optical transceiver hardware and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with firmware engineers to integrate hardware and firmware components, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility.
  • Engage with optical engineers to define optical specifications, select appropriate components, and ensure optical performance meets requirements.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers to develop robust mechanical designs that accommodate optical and electrical components.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to establish efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of optical transceivers, identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks.
  • Document and maintain design specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in optical transceiver technology, contributing to the continuous improvement of our products.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in optical transceiver design and development, with a strong understanding of optical and electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with optical component selection, integration, and testing is essential.
  • Proficiency in optical simulation tools and optical design principles is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex optical and electrical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of successful teamwork.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to optical transceivers is preferred.
  • Willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
