Position Summary
The Full-Time Faculty Member in the Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) Program at Morehouse School of Medicine provides instructional excellence, academic leadership, and programmatic support to advance MSM's mission of health equity, innovation, and workforce development. This role contributes to teaching, curriculum development, student recruitment, assessment, accreditation support, and strategic growth of the Online MSHI program. The faculty member works collaboratively with program leadership, curriculum committees, assessment teams, and institutional partners to ensure high-quality graduate education aligned with industry, accreditation, and workforce needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree or equivalent is preferred from a regionally accredited college or university..
  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative and/or teaching experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in online graduate course management.
  • Demonstrated experience using computers and instructional/administrative software applications.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SmartSheet, and related software tools.

Description of Job Duty
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
The faculty member will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Contribute to the formation, enforcement, monitoring, and evaluation of policies that support program sustainability, student outcomes, and learning success.
  1. Provide strategic leadership to support the growth, innovation, and continuous improvement of the Online MSHI program.
  2. Collaborate closely with the MSHI Curriculum Committee to assist in curriculum design, development, revision, and implementation.
  3. Partner with the GEPH Assessment & Operations Director to assess academic plans, student outcomes, and learning objectives to ensure high-quality, relevant graduate education.
  4. Develop, implement, and support initiatives for student recruitment, enrollment growth, and retention in the Online MSHI program.
  5. Work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and institutional stakeholders to sustain and expand the Online MSHI program offerings and related combined-degree programs.
  6. Participate in GEPH Assessment & Operations administrative activities related to the Online MSHI program.
  7. Promote and market the MSHI program in collaboration with the OEEP Dean and the Marketing and Communications Department.
  8. Assist in the development and enhancement of course content, instructional materials, and curricular resources to support student learning.
  9. Collaborate with subject matter experts in course design, instructional innovation, and the development of new courses.
  10. Submit requested data, reports, and documentation on time to support administrative, assessment, and accreditation requirements.
  11. Support the recruitment, development, and retention of a qualified and engaged faculty workforce committed to excellence in teaching and student success within the MSHI program.

Knowledge
  • Doctoral degree in Health Informatics or an equivalent doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., health information management, data science, public health, biomedical informatics, healthcare administration).
  • Knowledge of graduate-level course development, instructional planning, assessment, and evaluation principles.
  • Knowledge of online and adult learning theory and best practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply institutional, academic, and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accreditation, compliance, and assessment processes in graduate education.

Skills
  • Highly preferred experience teaching online graduate-level courses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Project.
  • Proficiency in SmartSheet software.
  • Proficiency with online learning management systems (LMS), including course design, delivery, and assessment tools.
  • Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, instructional materials, and other written documentation.
  • Skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Skill in working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability.
  • Skill in collaborating effectively with subject matter experts, faculty colleagues, and institutional stakeholders.

Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty, administrators, and external partners.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MSM employees, students, and the public.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to support recruitment, retention, and student success efforts in an online graduate program environment.
