Job description

Description
The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing & Health Informatics at the University of Washington invites applications for multiple Teaching Associate positions that may be needed on a quarterly basis at various points throughout the 2026-27 academic year (July 1 - June 30). We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. At this time, we anticipate an instructional need for Autumn Quarter (Sept 16-Dec 15) and Spring Quarter (Mar 16-Jun 15). The successful candidate will join our faculty on a quarterly basis at 25%-100% FTE commensurate with instructional assignment. Reappointment on a quarterly basis is possible based on programmatic need.
The full-time base salary range for this position will be $8600 - $9792 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note: if appointed at less than full-time, this salary range will be prorated commensurate with assigned FTE.
For the initial appointment, the successful candidate will be expected to teach NCLIN 301- a 6-credit foundational course for Accelerated BSN students focused on health assessment and psychomotor nursing skills required for safe entry-level practice. The course emphasizes structured lab-based learning, standardized skill performance, and clinical reasoning development. The course integrates Skills Lab and Health Assessment Lab components using standardized checklists, simulation-based activities, and digital learning platforms (Canvas and CoursePoint). Health Assessment faculty also utilize DocuCare for clinical documentation training.
Faculty teaching in NCLIN 301 are expected to:
  • Develop key competencies, including creating a psychologically safe learning environment where students can practice and learn from mistakes
  • Facilitate student learning through strategies such as cueing
  • Conduct effective pre-briefing and debriefing

Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • RN licensure (Washington State or Multistate Compact) by the time of appointment
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a registered nurse
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical surgical nursing of adult
