Job description

Success Education Colleges (SEC) is a family of institutions comprised of North-West College. Glendale Career College and Nevada Career Institute. SEC is a leader in allied health education, and has been offering quality and affordable health care training programs for over 55 years. Our Colleges mission is to prepare students in short term programs for gainful employment. To accomplish this, we provide a professional faculty, well-qualified administrators, and a top-notch support staff.

North-West College has received approval by the Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) and has recently introduced an Associate of Arts degree in Nursing at the campus located in Riverside called Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing.

The Dean is appointed and reports to the Executive Dean of Nursing. The school Dean provides leadership and counsel to faculty, staff, and students. The Dean monitors trends in nursing education, participates in research, and ensures adherence to state and federal regulation and maintains accreditation standards. He/she collaborates with leadership in handling issues such as admission, performance, crisis management, policy implementation, and programmatic evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages administrative functions in the MFSON program.
  2. Participates in the management of campus operations and resources.
  3. Advising students in nursing program.
  4. In working with the Executive Dean, the Dean ensues faculty and staff resources are adequate to administer the nursing programs.
  5. Participates in scholarly activities specific to the assigned nursing discipline.
  6. Contributes to college strategic initiatives and participates in Success Educations Colleges long-term planning and policy setting.
  7. Encourages faculty to continue professional development with Professional Development resources available to them.
  8. Collaborates with Executive Dean on operational and capital budgeting.
  9. Provides ongoing mentorship and advisement in developing and implementing evaluation and review systems for faculty, courses, and programs.
  10. Ensures that faculty and staff work to implement program recruitment and retention plans
  11. Works with Corporate Finance Department on annual budget including operational and capital budget expenses for nursing department.
  12. Assumes duties of Executive Dean of Nursing when necessary.
  13. Attends General Faculty, Curriculum, and Evaluation Committees.
  14. Responsible for review of all course syllabi for compliance with college guidelines and external standards
  15. Oversees recruitment and enrollment of students.
  16. Oversees coordination of student clinical placement.
  17. Assist with regulatory matters
  18. Responsible for the orientation and mentoring of new faculty members
Minimum Qualifications

 Possession or eligibility for a license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of California.

  1. Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or Administration.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in professional nursing education within the last ten years or equivalent.
  3. A minimum of one (1) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care.
