Job description

Our Communications and Media Relations team is essential for shaping the Firm's public image and managing its interactions with the media. Our team crafts and disseminates press releases, media statements and other communications to highlight the Firm's achievements, legal victories and superb insights. We build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure positive coverage and handle media inquiries with professionalism and accuracy. The team also oversees internal communications, ensuring that employees are informed about key initiatives and developments. Additionally, we manage the Firm's social media presence, create engaging content and monitor public perception to proactively address any potential issues. Through strategic communication efforts, our team ensures that the Firm's reputation remains strong and its messaging consistent across all platforms.

We are seeking a talented and collaborative Communications Writer to join our Content Development (CD) team, which sits within the broader Global Communications function. Working with colleagues around the world, you'll write and edit content including strategic marketing materials, website copy and high-level internal communications, ensuring consistent alignment with brand voice, Firm style and audience expectations.

In addition to writing and editing, the Communications Writer will provide day-to-day administrative and cross-functional support. This support will include managing and updating project plans, and maintaining the Global Communications function's calendar of initiatives, helping to ensure our content is efficiently produced, approved and published.

The roles and responsibilities of this job include:

  • Monitor and update the Firm's website, including award and event announcements, service pages and careers content, ensuring that tone and style guidelines and SEO principles are consistently followed
  • Write and edit content in a range of formats, including ad copy, articles and video scripts for a variety of channels in addition to the website
  • Provide as-needed editorial support for high-profile internal initiatives, including key executive communications
  • Support our Global Head of Communications with department-wide projects and initiatives, such as management of the firmwide message house, deck creation and updating, plus recurring departmental meetings and material and organizing team-building events.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in content creation and digital marketing
  • Apply best practices in SEO, GEO, accessibility and plain language to all web copy
  • Help to develop an overall reporting structure and process tied to content and communications, translating data into a cohesive report for the team and firm executives
  • Make recommendations to ensure web content is optimized for Google Search, AI-driven search features and chat-based search bots
  • Manage and update project plans to ensure timely delivery of communications initiatives
  • Maintain the team's calendar of initiatives, including the Firm-wide editorial/content calendar
  • Writing test(s) required

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field
  • Minimum of one year's business writing experience, preferably for a publication with a national or international readership
  • Thorough command of grammar, punctuation and AP style
  • Demonstrated ability to write engaging, audience-focused content
  • Obsessive attention to detail and strong eye for consistency
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into accessible copy for global audiences
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and techniques for optimizing digital content
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to be edited, and to receive and act on feedback
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Compensation Range: $73,600 - $110,400
