We're always pushing each other to go further because we believe that when we realize our potential, we can help others reach theirs.Join us and play your part in something special!The Lead Analyst, Risk Reporting will serve as the primary architect for Markel's risk storytelling, translating complex internal risk data into high-visibility reports for regulators, the Board and executive management at Markel, and rating agencies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our capital adequacy and risk management maturity are accurately reflected in statutory filings and other stakeholder reporting. They will manage the end-to-end production of Markel's primary risk disclosures, including the ORSA (Insurance and Group) and the CISSA (Bermuda) report. This role requires a professional who can project-manage complex data-gathering, ensuring all reports are technically accurate, decision-ready, and delivered on strict timelines.
1. Regulatory & Statutory Reporting (ORSA/CISSA)
  • Lead the end-to-end production of the annual ORSA and Bermuda-specific CISSA reports, including data gathering and review from functions across the organization.
  • Synthesize inputs from Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting and collaborate with teammates across the risk function to draft the Risk Framework and Governance, Risk Profile and Solvency Assessment narratives.
  • Keep abreast of evolving expectations and reporting required for areas of regulatory focus such as climate and AI.

2. Stakeholder & Board Communication
  • Draft Quarterly Board Risk Reports: Create high-impact executive summaries and dashboards that highlight emerging risks, limit breaches, and risk-adjusted performance.
  • Rating Agency Presentations: Manage risk content and messaging for annual reviews with AM Best and S&P, focusing on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and financial resilience.
  • KRI Monitoring: Maintain and evolve the Key Risk Indicator (KRI) framework, ensuring timely escalation of material matters to the CRO and Risk Committee.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Insurance Reporting Background: 5+ years of experience in insurance risk, finance, or actuarial roles, with direct involvement in ORSA, CISSA, or equivalent regulatory regimes.
  • Project Management Discipline: Proven ability to drive cross-functional projects and hold senior stakeholders accountable to deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail: A "zero-error" mindset regarding data consistency across various reports, filings, and dashboards.
  • Executive Communication: High-caliber written skills with the ability to turn technical data into a narrative that is decision-ready for the Board and Executive Leadership Team, with a track record of drafting high-visibility reports for Senior Management or Boards.
  • Operational Agility: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet rigorous deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (e.g., quarterly reporting cycles and annual rating reviews)
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Solvency II, NAIC ORSA, or BMA regulatory frameworks.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field. Professional designations (CPCU, ARM, or progress toward Actuarial exams) preferred.

Pay information:
Base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors, such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average salary for the Lead Analyst, Risk Intelligence position is $116,080 - $159,610 with 25% bonus potential.
