Associate Marketing Manager, Engagement & Events


The Associate Marketing Manager, Engagement & Events will play a key role in driving audience engagement and retention across our portfolio of news products. This position will support the planning and execution of live events, as well as develop and manage strategies to increase subscriber lifetime value (LTV) through engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a creative, data-driven marketer with strong organizational skills and a passion for connecting audiences to meaningful journalism experiences.

What You'll Do

Event Marketing Support
Help to plan, coordinate, and execute marketing events, including editorial event initiatives, signature programs, conferences, and other promotional activations
Coordinate with the creative design team for event branding, signage, and promotional materials needed for event launch and on-site
Work with the sales & account executive team to identify strategic event sponsorship opportunities
Coordinate with internal teams (editorial, design, sales) to ensure consistent brand messaging and audience experience
Manage event communications including email campaigns, landing pages, social media promotion, and post-event follow-up

Subscriber Engagement
Develop and execute campaigns to deepen engagement among current subscribers and increase retention
Partner with central marketing teams to optimize onboarding, re-engagement, and loyalty programs
Monitor key engagement metrics to identify trends and opportunities to improve LTV

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with analytics and product teams to test and refine engagement tactics
Support broader marketing initiatives that drive awareness, subscription growth, and community participation
Coordinate and manage vendor and partner relationships as needed for event and engagement activations

Desired Skills & Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in marketing (experiential), communications, or brand management with experience in subscriber loyalty programs
Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), email marketing platforms, and analytics dashboards preferred
Passion for supporting journalism, media, and customer development

Compensation
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in California. The reasonable estimate, if hired in San Francisco is between $30-$35/hour. Please note this information is specific to those hired in San Francisco. If this role is open to candidates outside of San Francisco, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
