Job description

The Senior Event Production Technician will play a critical role in the design, setup and support of onsite and hybrid events for an established global technology client. This role is responsible for:
  • using their technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events based on the creative vision and unique event scope;
  • utilizing deep knowledge of video equipment and technology to ensure flawless operation of all video equipment and decision-making skills to make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure quality control; and
  • collaborating with team members to optimize the operational setup of the production control room and oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of all aspects of the client's production facilities and control rooms.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Senior Event Production Technician will play a critical role in the design, setup and support of onsite and hybrid events for an established global technology client. This role is responsible for:
  • using their technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events based on the creative vision and unique event scope;
  • utilizing deep knowledge of video equipment and technology to ensure flawless operation of all video equipment and decision-making skills to make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure quality control; and
  • collaborating with team members to optimize the operational setup of the production control room and oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of all aspects of the client's production facilities and control rooms.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Coordination
  • Provide technical consultation on the production design of live event experiences through professional quality video, audio, lighting, and presentation to allow the client and external partners to connect and communicate their message in a distinct and technologically innovative way to colleagues and customers alike.
  • Meet with client teams to understand event scope and provide a strategy and solution to meet production requirements.
  • Coordinate the technical production needs for all events and ensure requirements are in full compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate equipment rental and other supplemental production requirements.
  • Ensure fully quality check and optimization of facility, event assets, and experience prior to production.
  • Assist with presenter preparation including direction, facilitating rehearsal and other pre-event needs.
  • Oversee postproduction needs including basic editing and delivery of recordings.
  • Organize event metrics and feedback and provide recommendations on areas for improvement.
  • Participate in assessment of technical challenges and oversee creation of incident and postmortem reports.
  • Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around overall strategy for studio and event spaces based on operational requirements.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.

Technical Events
  • Oversee the production design, setup and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high-quality event for client productions.
  • Maintain all relevant hardware, equipment, and production assets and oversee necessary testing and quality control on all items prior to an event.
  • Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including but not limited to:
  • Technical directing
  • Audio mixing
  • Robotic cameras
  • Virtual platforms
  • Graphics
  • Video playback
  • Streaming
  • Lighting design
  • Teleprompter
  • Execute virtual events on various virtual event platforms such as StreamYard, Wirecast, and VMix
  • Provide support for staging and creative lighting design.
  • Support post-production needs including basic clean up and content editing for event recordings.
  • Mentor Event Technicians and collaborate on the strategy of training programs to develop personnel and ensure they have the skillset and knowledge to effectively perform their roles and provide recommendations and opportunities for advancing capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary onsite support for troubleshooting of all control related equipment.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on all production equipment and ensure optimization of all equipment configurations and setups, and initiate troubleshooting of more complex issues.
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance support needs with location and regional technical leadership to ensure operational readiness of client facility.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in live event production, event coordination, broadcast, and video production, or another similar field.
  • 1+ years of experience in:
  • onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events
  • database and scheduling management
  • Studio production and event experience.
  • Experience with control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.
  • Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
  • A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
  • Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations.
  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective. Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership.
  • Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.

Nice-to-have skills
  • Experience with Ross production environments and video switchers including Ultrix routers, Carbonite and Ultra switchers.
  • Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
  • Experience with Panasonic PTZ Cameras.
  • College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL VideoLink offices.
