Job description

Lowcountry Lighting Studio is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Lighting Specialist to join our growing team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with homeowners, designers, builders, and contractors to create beautiful, functional lighting solutions for residential and commercial projects.

Position Summary

As a Lighting Specialist, you will guide customers through the lighting selection process while managing projects from initial consultation through final invoicing. This role combines customer service, sales, lighting design, estimating, and project coordination to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist customers in the showroom by identifying their lighting needs and recommending products.
  • Educate clients on lighting design, styles, finishes, and technical applications.
  • Prepare and present lighting proposals, quotations, and product specifications.
  • Process sales orders accurately and coordinate with vendors regarding product availability and delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with homeowners, interior designers, builders, and contractors.
  • Stay current on industry trends, product innovations, and lighting technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Resolve customer questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participate in vendor training, showroom promotions, and industry events.
  • Perform electrical take-offs from architectural plans and prepare project bids.
  • Attend job site meetings to review electrical layouts and ensure project specifications are met.
  • Create detailed specification books for decorative and architectural lighting packages.
  • Manage projects through every stage of the sales process, from lead generation to final invoicing.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and minimize returns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional showroom environment.
  • Become proficient in the company's order entry and operating systems.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to read construction plans and perform electrical take-offs is preferred (or willingness to learn).
  • Experience in lighting, interior design, construction, or sales is a plus.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient with computers and willing to learn new software systems.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
