Job description

Overview
The Rigger supports the installation, operation, and maintenance of rigging systems used for conventions, trade shows, and live events at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This role assists with the safe setup and operation of rigging equipment, including motors, truss, and overhead systems within a live event production environment.
The ideal candidate has experience working in convention centers, arenas, theaters, or similar production settings and demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
This role pays an hourly rate of $44.23-$48.65
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until June 26, 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the safe setup, operation, and maintenance of rigging equipment during event load-ins, rehearsals, and show operations.
  • Operate rigging systems as required to support event production and technical operations.
  • Maintain inspection and maintenance records for rigging equipment.
  • Assist with rigging equipment inventory and communicate equipment needs when necessary.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and established venue safety practices related to rigging operations.
  • Collaborate with production teams, stagehands, and event operations staff to support successful events.
  • Provide cross-departmental support and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in rigging, event production, entertainment staging, or a convention center, arena, or similar live-event environment.
  • Knowledge of entertainment rigging practices, including commonly used knots and rigging hardware.
  • Familiarity with fall protection systems and safe work practices when working at heights.
  • Mechanical aptitude with rigging equipment such as chain hoists, motors, counterweight systems, and related hardware.
  • Ability to interpret rigging plots or technical drawings is preferred.
  • Experience supporting aerial or large-scale entertainment productions is a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS:
  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • ETCP (Entertainment Technician Certification Program) Rigging Certification preferred.
  • Aerial lift and/or forklift operation certification preferred, or the ability to obtain certification in accordance with venue safety requirements.
  • Fall protection training or certification preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices when working at heights.
