Job description

PROGRAM MANAGER II
The University of Alabama at Birmingham

General Responsibilities:
Responsible for administratively managing a large or complex University program or multiple programs. Provides input in the development of the program plan and objectives, with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters. Typically supervises a small staff and is responsible for long-range planning. Responsibilities include budgeting, networking/public relations, technical training and assistance, grant and report writing. May handle regulatory responsibilities, contract submissions, and identify research funding. May handle event planning and oversight of construction projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
1.    Provides input and monitors existing departmental and research-related projects to ensure milestones and goals are met, participates in strategic planning, and assists with ensuring projects stay within budget and adhere to regulations and policies. 
2.    Provides general administrative support to the supervisor, including handling communications with internal and external constituents, scheduling, maintaining biographical sketches and other research support documents, etc. 
3.    Provides support to day-to-day research operations for the supervisor and the UAB SCORES Collaborative Research Group, including preparation of budgets and other administrative documents for grant submissions, preparing, editing and reviewing research regulatory documents, preparing and editing scientific products of research, manuscript submission, review of grant project expenditures, preparation of progress reports, coordination of fee-for service activities for the UAB SCORES Collaborative Research Group, etc.
4.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $51,270 - $83,330
 

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.

Preferred:
    Experience in grant preparation, submission, and management of research projects. 
    Experience in preparation and submission of scientific products of research, including manuscripts, abstracts, and high-quality scientific presentations.
    Experience with research project management is highly desired.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment 
    Strong organizational and problem-solving skills 
    Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously 
    Strong written and verbal communication skills 
    Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint) and research-related applications (e.g., REDCap)
