Job description

The Program Manager is responsible for management and leadership of the cross functional team in the execution of new model programs and engineering changes from business awards. Responsibilities include the management and delivery of customer and E&E expectations for program and product cost, timing, and quality. Further, the management of engineering changes through the launch and post launch. Responsibilities may include special projects or assignments to support operational goals or customer requirements


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Lead and support the E&E cross functional team for all project phases in support of the “E&E APQP Process” as assigned

·         Coordinate with internal and external resources to achieve successful project implementation in support of new business

·         Maintaining project budget, internal launch documentation, and customer launch documentation

·         Develop and maintain project timelines and open issues list; escalate when necessary

·         Define, appropriately delegate, and follow up deliverables to closure

·         Analyze project risk and escalate potential issues to management

·         Communicate issues and project timing with customers, internal resources, and vendors; ensure project and program timing are aligned

·         Lead the completion of APQP task and milestone events on-time

·         Drive cross-functional team approach to responsibilities on new job launch and engineering change activities with applicable departments through subsequent handoff to production

·         Supports as required tool buyoff process with E&E cross-functional team and supplier; keeps management abreast of all launch-specific supplier issues that impact project and customer timing

·         Supports verification and coordination of Run@Rate with operations team and ensures proper documentation is recorded

·         Supports product sign-off (PSO); ensures PSO is achieved with cross-functional team and leads close-out activities of open PSO issues

Work Environment

Work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees also may be subject to certain environments such as working near loud moving mechanical parts. Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:


Education: 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, required

Experience:

·         Four (4) or more years of experience in Project or Program Management, launch of automotive business initiatives, or equivalent Engineering Management experience, preferred

·         Three (3) or more years of experience in Automotive Stamping, Welding, and Assembly components experience, preferred

·         Three (3) or more years of experience in OEM or Tier1 Supplier manufacturing environments, preferred

Certifications:

·         Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is strongly preferred

Travel:

·         There will be 15% travel required for the position

Relocation:

·         Relocation to the Athens, TN area is required and assistance may be provided
